Hell, Heaven, Miracle
A part of The Human Comedy
address Rubén Ortiz.
The Human Comedy is a group that, undoubtedly, is one of the most progressive groups performing the Mexican scene. It is composed of experienced artists and new projects, and has made a list of books that mean a new way of thinking about this from the theater. They are works that far exceed the conventional theatrical format, they are original creations that do not necessarily leave particularly dramatic text but precise and continuous research on the subject to develop, as well as performing tools to explore. Also, each of the works, but has the flexibility to be carried out in theaters, usually investigates the possibilities of non-theatrical spaces, prisons, schools, basements, cellars and now houses or scenery of other productions.
Thus, the first wave of the Company, from November 2007 to July 2009, consisted of a series of theatrical events in various parts of the country and the United States. From the famous poem by Dante Alighieri, The Divine Comedy, began a journey to explore four concepts that relate to our present life: sickness and health, relations between Mexico and the United States acts to monitor and standardize and, finally, poetry and desire. There are four different shows-research:
Part 0: The Limbo or Dos Pueblos is the part dedicated to the review of relations between Mexico and the United States. Collaborated in its preparation Hand2Mouth American theater companies and Miracle Theatre, both of Portland, Oregon. For its creation is taken into account the intersection of different methods of physical theater, theater and installation document stage. The play premiered the 25th season of major company English Miracle Theatre in September 2008 and has the support of the Rockefeller-Map Found Grant, the City of Portland and the College of Theatre de la UNAM FFyL.
Part I: The Inferno or The Birth of the Clinic, explores the ways in which Mexicans live in the health-disease process, methodically explores the scenic possibilities of performance and video. Its premiere took place in November 2007 at the Forum Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz de la UNAM, produced by the same institution.
Part II: Purgatory or monitor and standardize, is dedicated to interfere in the disciplinary procedures that format to individuals within the normal pattern of money in society. Was conducted in July , 2009, Annex to the former prison panopticon of the City of San Luis Potosi and was part of a laboratory of the State Center for the Arts in San Luis Potosi, in collaboration with choreographer Alberto Perez.
Part III: Paradise or The Last Life in Limpio, first paid tribute to the poetry and the book as a shaper of culture and happiness and on the other, incites the viewer to explore in a kind but forceful and collective about their own desires. Was carried out in various actions and interventions in the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, UNAM, in the auditorium Justo Sierra College of Theatre and Theatre in the basement of Carlos Lazo de la UNAM, from April to June 2009. Its production was given by the Joint Ventures FONCA Program, the College of Theatre and the Faculty of Architecture, UNAM.
